"J" is for...

Jadis

JADIS "SEE RIGHT THROUGH YOU"

After listening to Jadis' new album, See Right Through You, you may just need to check your calendar to make sure it is still 2012-all of the best neo progressive elements from twenty years ago make an appearance. After all, a wet-behind-the-ears Jadis did support Marillion on their "Clutching At Straws" tour, so the bad is firmly rooted in that era.

Since they last sent a CD over the pond, both Martin Orford (keys/flute/backing vocals)and John Jowitt (bass) left the band and were replaced by Arman Vardanyan and Andy Marlow respectively, but, the backbone of the band, drummer Steve Christey and guitarist/singer Gary Chandler, keep Jadis going.

It's been six years, but worth the wait as this album is superb. Jadis have a sound like no other, with the dual-tracked vocals and the focus on the guitar.

Keyboards and bass have their role, to provide a backdrop to allow Gary to soar on guitar, something he does extremely well.

There are times when all of the guys have their turn in the spotlight, but Jadis is all about the guitar, with less layers and demonstration of virtuosity than other progressive bands, yet always very melodic with hooks that stick in the mind and demand to be played time and again.

If you have yet to come across this great British band, then you owe it to your ears to do so.
